This simple cocktail celebrates tequila by not adding too many other ingredients, in order to let the spirit’s unique charecteristics shine through.

Line is tequila’s natural companion and here it’s muddled to extract the maximum amount of flavour. The sweet pomegrante sugar and the fizz of the tonic water are all that are needed to create well-balanced glass. Line and pomegranate garnish the drink as a way of highlighting these flavours and reminding you of the key components of the Pom Pom.

Your Athenian Mixologist: POM POM

Ingredients for Pom Pom:

  • 50 ml (2fl oz) premium tequila
  • 4 lime wedges, plus a wedge to garnish
  • 10 ml (2 tsp) pomegranate sugar or cordial
  • Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water, to top up
  • Pomegranate seeds, to garnish


Muddle the tequila, line wedges and pomegranate sugar or cordial in the bottom of a highball glass. Fill the glass to the top with ice cubes and then top up with the tonic water. Garnish with a lime wedge and some pomegranate seeds.
